Kiddo Update #2
Miss Merrick! I just smile when I think of this child. So many different personalities, so many different ways to describe her, each depending on the day or time of day. I am struggling to remember the quote she told me the other day when we teased her that if we sold our house and didn't have another one to buy we would have to move in with Aunt Ashley and Uncle Bob, to which Merrick replied something along the lines of, "Well, I am not the easiest to get along with". It summed Merrick up a lot. She is a great kid, just likes to keep us on our toes! She has been our most overscheduled child to date in the area of sports. We have pushed her to play much to her dismay. She has the perfect athletic body, just she doesn't really want to use it. She loves Soccer, so she joined a competitive soccer club last fall. She is not the most aggressive child, but is learning to understand the game and we look for her to make great gains with the same team this spring. The team she is on was undefeated last fall and moved up a division this year to compete with a little tougher crowd. Merrick just finished up basketball in the rec league. She once again didn't show much aggression when it came to playing, but understands the fundamentals of the game and of course her height helps her a lot. She now claims Basketball is her favorite so we will see where that takes us. She is in the midst of spring soccer and we are having her play softball because we know she can do that one-she really doesn't want to-but we know she can!
Merrick continues to love "art" and creating on her time. She enjoys drawing and painting and loves that her Bumpa shares some canvas' with her! She definitely has a talent that her momma doesn't have. She also has really taken a liking to building her LegoFriends sets. She can spend hours creating and taking apart and recreating the models. I am glad she has found a hobby that can keep her mind active (she is our child who could watch tv for hours).
Merrick also continues to be a great kiddo at school. She won two Character Kids of the Month already this year at school. She has such a tender heart for others which makes me remember that it is ok, that she doesn't always have one with her momma. She and her sister have become better friends as Macy has grown as well. Often times they have sleepovers in Merrick's room. Her bunk beds are finally being used! The really do play together well for the most part and I am thankful that they have a great sister bond.
