Opening Day

Today was opening day for NKCA Baseball 2008! We were suppose to play last night but due to some pesky mothers (not me-I actually thought these mothers were a little over-protective) they called the games last night due to the cold. Wierd as we played with snowflakes falling in the fall, whatever.

So today we had a game. It was not a great game for our first this season. Our boys made some terrible mistakes and it cost us the game. Actually, I thought we were out of it early, but we ended up making it a one point game in the last inning. Frustrating for our boys that their rally came a little too late. Cole did amazing as always. He was 3 for 3 with a triple, double, and single. His triple was a beautiful shot into right field. His double was a high hit long ball into center, and his single was call just getting a piece of a ball he was trying to smack out of the park. yes, I am a very proud momma. he also pitched (he didn't start-but came in to relieve the other pitcher). He struck the first three batters in the first inning of pitching. The second inning he was in, he walked the first batter and lost control after that-he is so hard on himself that he can't handle letting anyone get on base. He honestly thinks he has to do it all on his own, or he is a failure. Wonder where he gets that from? He tries to throw the ball harder, but then his pitches are not as accurate, so he let some runs score (of course not all his fault as the fielders again made some costly mistakes). In the end we took the fall. It's too bad as we don't have the confidence in the beginning of games, so we have to make it close in the end just to get our spirits up. Tom was very disappointed we lost and I don't think he is sleeping well now because of it. Cole has moved on and is playing--so nice to know his spirit is broken and he can move on!
